I am still collating data for the Main Roads Survey on behalf of Qld Wildlife Rehabilitation Council (QWRC).
Unfortunately to date the response has been very poor. So far the most data I am getting is from Australia Zoo and more recently Wildlcare.
I have attached the appropriate form if anyone is interesting in helping. Whilst I would love to be able to put in the time to do these surveys myself, working full-time limits my availability to drive all over the Shire and surrounding districts to gather this data, so your help would be greatly appreciated.
The places not being covered in my area at the moment that I know are regular 'hot spots' and need info for are:
Mackay area
Mackay - Proserpine
Airport Rd, Proserpine
Strathdickie Rd
Bowen Rd
Sugarloaf/Riordanvale Rd
Dingo Beach Rd
Hydeaway Bay
Proserpine - Bowen
Bowen area
Collinsville & Scottville area
Whilst Main roads are only interested in the main roads I would also appreciate data from any other roads you know are regular 'hot spots'. If we can collect enough data on the byroads as well we will prepare a report for council requesting road signs there too.
If you can help please fill in the forms, preferably on a daily basis and send in to me by the end of each month.
