Almost 60 people (including some ex-coal miners) turned out to #StopAdani in Mackay last weekend. The Central Queensland Stop Adani Summit saw people from Bowen, Airlie Beach, Rockhampton and even Jericho, come together to plan out the #StopAdani campaign over the coming months.
Widi and Birri Traditional Owner, Ken Peters-Dodd, told the crowd about his many years’ experience fighting to protect sacred Urannah land from being dammed. Jericho Grazier, Bruce Currie, emphasised the importance of protecting our water for generations to come – something Adani cannot be trusted to do.
Through various workshops, the group came up with some exciting plans for the months ahead, as the campaign kicks it up a notch by putting pressure on our State MPs to veto the $1B taxpayer funded loan to Adani.
The message is becoming loud and clear – heaps of people in Mackay do not support Adani’s Carmichael mine, and they will keep fighting until the project is squashed!
