Our final Beautiful Walk for the year is truly special and planned to keep you cool after the heatwave. Join us on Saturday 22 December from 6pm - 8pm as we meet at sunset to learn more about Mackay's local bat species.
Held on the day before the full moon, our evening will be bright enough to see the flying-foxes take flight to search for their favourite fruits.
Joining us will be Heidi Jarmaine from Mackay Regional Council, who will speak about her work with relocating bat colonies and the issues involved. Long-term wildlife carer Fay Paterson, will also give us an insight into the personal side of bats and a better appreciation of these important pollinators.
Our walks are free and a great way to socialise with other nature and wildlife lovers. So jump in for your last chance to learn more about the bush in your backyard for 2018!
Mackay Conservation Group's Beautiful Walk program has been our most successful community outreach activity. They are held monthly with the aim of showing residents and visitors the environmental beauty and value of the Mackay region.
