The Mackay Conservation Groups annual fundraiser Swim For Our Rivers is a chance for the Mackay community to come together to protect this richly biodiverse area that we all love so much. On the 20th of March, at Pioneer Swim Centre the Mackay community of young and old will come together to splash around and celebrate the beautifully ecologically diverse Mackay region.
Fittingly, this year's event will celebrate Irwin's Turtle. Discovered by its namesake and Aussie icons Steve & Bob Irwin. This unique little creature is only found in the Mackay Region & all funds raised from the event will go towards protecting this iconic creature to ensure that it is around for generations to come.
So How Do You Get Involved?
SIGN UP A TEAM
Swim For Our Rivers is all about getting together with your mates,
family, and colleagues to raise funds to protect our natural environment, which gives to us every single day.
By signing up a team you and your team members are becoming a fundraising team that we hope will reach out to your own networks outside the Mackay Conservation Group to educate and fundraise for this very special cause. Compete against other fundraising teams with the final clash and prizes for best fundraisers to occur on the 20th of March at Pioneer Swim Centre.
This year we will be providing many additional resources to help you communicate the cause and raise funds as easily as possible so sign up your team today.
It has been said that one of the greatest gifts you can give is your time, and at Mackay Conservation Group we know we wouldn't be able to do the great work we do without our volunteers.
Our Swim For Our Rivers fundraiser is no exception. We will once again be relying on the support of YOU our community to maximize the potential of this event.Whether you can just donate one hour or two from the comfort of your own home or you're able to come in and help us on the Swim For Our Rivers day itself. Any way you can help is greatly appreciated and allows us to increase our capacity to create positive change in Mackay and become better custodians over our region.
Can't physically be involved? Mackay Conservation Group is building community support to protect this beautiful stream and all the life that depends on it. With the donations received last year, we have employed a part-time organizer whose job is to help the community have their concerns brought to light. Your donation will help us to do more of this vital work.
There are very few streams like Urannah Creek left in the world. It should be left in peace so that all generations in the future can enjoy the natural beauty of this place. The wildlife that depends on Urannah Creek deserves a home. We will continue working to protect it.
It will cost us $50,000 to run this campaign in 2021. We aim to raise $20,000 from this fundraiser. Click below to donate today.
