Our health is inseparable from the health of our environment – our soil, water, air, biodiversity, atmosphere. With your support we can continue protecting it.
The world is facing many challenges
As we face this global pandemic we have all become accutely aware of how fragile our health is. None of us can be confident that the virus won’t affect us. We also appreciate that our health is inextricably linked to the health of our environment – our soil, water, air, biodiversity, atmosphere.
Yet the some people think 'business as usual' will be ok
Sadly, there are some who ignore this link. Some individuals, big business, corporations, and politicians are seeking take advantage of this situation and under the guise of "post-Covid recovery”, to promote and profit from destructive and unsustainable projects.
Urannah Dam has been resurrected, while gas fracking projects, logging of native forest, expanding coal and gas exploration licences across Queensland, weakening environmental laws and "cutting green tape" are just some of the threats that are gaining traction.
We're all providing a voice for nature
We must continue to hold those in power to account and to give a voice to the voiceless in this world – our precious flora, fauna, and ecosystems. The work of Mackay Conservation Group is needed now more than ever.
For nearly 40 years we have been challenging those who want development at all costs. We have been proposing sustainable alternatives. We have been building grass-roots campaigns run by volunteers and dedicated staff that challenge the unsustainable and protect our most valued places.
This year we are focussing on two major problems, climate change and the degradation of our rivers. We will ensure that the world knows that people here in Central Queensland are as concerned about climate change as any. We will also work to protect our rivers from being sucked dry, dammed and polluted.
Your donation will ensure nature is protected
Over the next 12 months Mackay Conservation Group governments and businesses will hear strong messages that our community wants a sustainable future. We want our children's future to be a bright one in which our animals, plants, atmosphere and ecosystems protected.
Any amount you give will help protect our natural environment from the many challenges it faces. Please donate today.
