Mackay’s mangroves are under threat.
The proposed Mackay Port Access Road would cut through important wetland areas near Vines Creek, clearing more than 20 hectares of mangroves and impacting wildlife, fisheries and water quality connected to the Great Barrier Reef.
Join our community rally to stand up for Mackay’s mangroves and say no to the proposed road.
Mangroves protect our coastline, support marine life, improve water quality and store huge amounts of carbon.
Bring your family, friends, signs and banners. Let’s come together to show that our community cares about protecting the places that make Mackay special.
Together, we can raise awareness, grow support for the campaign, and send a clear message that our mangroves are worth protecting.
We are meeting at River Wharves on Saturday 20th June at 10 AM
