Whitehaven Coal wants to build Australia’s biggest new coal mine in Australia. If approved, Winchester South would pump out a staggering 583 million tonnes of climate pollution – more than Australia emits in an entire year. It would keep burning our future until 2055.
But we’re not letting it happen.
Mackay Conservation Group and the Australian Conservation Foundation have taken Whitehaven to court. And they’re not alone – a growing alliance of First Nations People, scientists, climate groups, and everyday people are drawing a line in the sand: no new coal or gas.
